James Halliday Wine Companion (www.winecompanion.com.au)
– tasting notes
Canberra District
Pinot 2009
“Light colour; a light- to medium-bodied pinot with spicy/savoury/foresty
overtones to the underlying fruit; good length for a wine of this
weight. Bronze medal Winewise ‘11, in the top 25% of its class. 88
points. Drink to 2015.”
Canberra District Merlot 2009
“Showing some development with leathery notes adding complexity to
the confiture plum on display; soft and accessible, best for the
short term. 88 points. Drink to 2013.”
Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2009
“Vibrant crimson; the fragrant bouquet delivered by the
co-fermentation of the viognier, the lifted red fruits of the palate
likewise; fine tannins and French oak are well integrated, the
twitch of warmth on the finish the only issue. 91 points. Drink to
2019.”

Review of Taemas 2005 Pinot Noir By Fergus McGhie, The Canberra
Times:-
"Made by Brian Johnston, this is a pinot noir that shows that, with
care and attention, the Murrumbateman side of the Canberra region
can produce excellent pinots. There is a delicious backbone of
dark cherry fruit with some firm tannins and excellent oak
integration. It’s a little closed at first, but with time it
softens into a great example of district pinot."
