Climate

While statistically quite similar to that of Canberra Airport the climate at Taemas does have some significant variations. Summer days are hotter and drier and winter night temperatures are generally substantially cooler.

With the rows planted in an east-west configuration, prevailing winds have an unobstructed run through the vineyard. This results in minimal air stagnation and subsequent mildew/fungus issues.

Perhaps more importantly, the ridge on which the vineyard is located appears not to be in the path of summer thunder/hailstorms.

The Taemas vineyard survived the extreme drought of 2006-07 without irrigation. The entire crop for the 2007 vintage was lost to frost in November 2006.

The following link maybe of interest, it details readings at local weather stations.
